Making-Of: The Image Film for Traktionssysteme Austria
How we brought an Austrian hidden champion to the screen
Turning a Hidden Champion into a Visual Story
From the very first conversations with Traktionssysteme Austria, it was clear that we did not want to create a typical industrial film. Of course, the electric motors themselves are impressive – technically precise, powerful and used all over the world. But behind this technology are people: engineers, developers, technicians and production specialists who make sure trains run reliably across cities, countries and continents.
Our goal was therefore to make this connection visible – the relationship between high-tech engineering and the people who make it possible.
This idea led to the central visual concept of the film. At the beginning, the faces of the employees remain hidden.
They are covered by objects from their working environment – tools, components, machines or other elements from the production process.

Two Days of Filming Inside a Global Technology Leader
The film was shot over two intensive production days directly at Traktionssysteme Austria’s facilities – both in their offices and inside the production halls. For us as a Vienna-based film production company, shooting in real working environments always creates the most authentic images.
At the same time, industrial locations come with their own challenges. Machines are running, components are moving through the halls and employees are focused on their tasks. Our challenge was to find clear, calm and cinematic images within this dynamic environment while capturing the precision and atmosphere of the company.
Our crew consisted of five people during the shoot – a deliberately compact team that allowed us to move quickly and adapt to the conditions on site. In active production environments this flexibility is essential, allowing us to capture authentic moments while interfering as little as possible with the company’s daily operations.
Another important aspect of the film: everyone appearing on camera is an actual TSA employee. No actors, no staged roles. This authenticity plays a huge role in productions like this. For many people, standing in front of a camera is unfamiliar at first, so part of our job is to create a relaxed atmosphere and build trust. Once people realize they don’t need to “perform” but can simply show what they do every day, the most natural moments begin to appear.

Creating a Cinematic Look with Anamorphic Lenses
Visually, we wanted the film to feel cinematic from the very beginning. To achieve this, we shot the entire project using anamorphic lenses. These lenses create a distinctive film look with a wider aspect ratio and the characteristic horizontal light streaks that appear when light sources hit the lens.
Inside the industrial environment of TSA – with its metallic surfaces, reflections and strong contrasts – this visual style creates a unique atmosphere. Production halls, machines and components begin to look almost like scenes from a feature film rather than a traditional corporate video.
The result is an image film that does more than showcase technology. It reveals the people behind it – their precision, their passion for engineering and the quiet strength of a company that sets global standards.
Or in simpler terms:
A film about the people who build the motors that power trains – and move a small part of the world every single day.
